Saturday, 1 June 2002 Well, I moved houses! Let's see if AT&T will not kill my web server. Since I have such low traffic, I am hoping they will have mercy on me. Since everything is pretty much new (I finally put the machine behind a firewall, not directly on the internet anymore) things might break. If anyone notices anything odd, please email me at tduffin@tippyturtle.com, thanks! Friday, 28 January 2000 Well, played around tons. Updated the message area to make URL's people type in actually hot. Check HERE for an example. Also, updated the Chat section to dynamically add people to the AIM list. Check HERE to see what that is about. I want to add support for ICQ and Yahoo Messenger too, but that is not for today. And last, but not least I updated the Reunion section. Check HERE for more info. I also updated Darren Battle's Reunion info with his graphic and a link to the registration form. Just print it, fill it out and mail to Darren! Monday, 21 September 1998 It appears my router likes to go to sleep on me. The site was down all yesterday afternoon. I will figure this out soon. Sorry. Sunday, 20 September 1998 xDSL seems to be running great; no down time since the first day. Just spent an hour putting in Alumni Listings by State. Should be interesting seeing who lives near you. Spent a couple of hours re-designing the site. It looks about the same, but now there are almost no graphics now. Friday, 18 September 1998 OK, Site seemed to be down, so I came home for lunch to check it out. Seems USWest killed my xDSL connection for a few hours for no reason. This might be the case for a bit. So, if you try to hit the site and it seems to not work, try again later...it must be USWest messing around. Thursday, 17 September 1998 Yeah! I just got xDSL installed at the house. My little NT machine that could is now on the internet again at the blazing speed of 256kbps. Well, now all I need is to get tduffin.seanet.com in the DNS. I'm tired again, good night all. Tuesday, 7 October 1997 Just got Database from Carrie. Wrestled with the data and merged with my database. This, by far, has been most time consuming part of this gig. 5 hours to do this...I'm going to sleep...2am now. Monday, 8 September 1997 Well I just completed the voting section under Reunion. I hope it works. I have already run into a couple of SQL errors. Luckily they were simple oversights that were easily fixed. This took about 4 hours total. My next task will be to complete the threading part of my message area. The is has become quite mental challenge for me. I just love brain teasers. Monday, 1 September 1997 Started working on the voting area of site. Only had about 2 hours. This section is largely incomplete. Monday, 25 August 1997 I just spent another 3 hours on the site. People can now post and read messages in the message area. I hope to add threading to it soon, but don't hold your breath. If anyone has a write-up on one of the 2 recent reunions, please send it to me tduffin@MAIL.COM so that I can post it in the reunion news area. ...also, anyone working an upcoming reunion can send me things and I will post them. Friday, 22 August 1997 Well, I found another couple of hours to work on this guy. I just added the "Last 10 Records" listings at the top of this page. I was always wondering who was newly edited or added...now I will know. Thursday, 21 August 1997 I have been out at the Microsoft Campus for 2 weeks, so nothing has been done on this site for awhile. I just added the Delete Profile functionality to the site. I only had an hour. Hopefully I will soon have some type of message posting functional. I also have some other ideas that might be cool. Wednesday, 6 August 1997 Damn I'm tired. I just created the necessary tables, added the database links and all scripting for the Profile and Directory sections. You can now Look people up by year. You can also add or edit your own records in the Profile section. Seems pretty solid functionally. I know there are some layout(looks ugly) issues with Netscape 3.0...actually most of the site is sloppy design-wise; I am a developer not a designer, so get over it! I will fix those issues as soon as I get the database stuff done. Next stop Reunion Info and Message area. The content is still very spotty. I am counting on people doing this for me now that the tools are built. Huge thanks to Karen for helping me in this regard. Monday, 4 August 1997 Well kids, I just got back from the "unofficial" Class of '85 - '90 reunion and was so inspired to continue communicating with people I built this site. From talking with everybody, I came to a couple of conclusions: 1. Damn we're cool people. 2. I can trust you people not to destroy things. ...so, because of #2, all the database functionality that I have (and will be) built into this site assumes that we don't need passwords and other annoying things to protect data. If data starts to get wrecked I will have to change that. But until then anyone can edit anyone's data. I thought this might be cool since that would allow people with web access to add data on people who do not have access. Complete most of the needed lame-o graphics and site design. Now need to add database functions. |
